Spotify is a music streaming service. Users can play music wherever they are, from their smartphone, their tablet or their computer. There are millions of songs that you can listen to, be it from a playlist made by Spotify or a playlist that you have created yourself. There is also a feature called Spotify Radio where Spotify will play tracks based on artists you have listened to. You can opt to subscribe to Spotify to access more features, or just listen for free with restricted access. You can also see playlists that your friends have made, as well as your favourite artists and celebrities. Each day, Spotify will give you a Daily Mix which has been made just for you, as well as a new playlist every week called Discover Weekly, with new songs and artists based on what you listened to over the course of the last seven days.
You can use Spotify Playlists to find readymade playlists that fit your mood or music taste. You can search by genre and mood. Here are some of the genres and moods that you can find playlists using:
- Hip Hop
You can find playlists made by Spotify/other users easily using this search function. Popular playlists include Teen Dance Party, Throwback Thursday, Monday Motivation, Feel Good Friday, Your Office Stereo and Happy Pop Hits. The majority of Spotify’s playlists are updated on a weekly basis – for instance, Throwback Thursday is updated every Thursday with a new theme. Recent themes have included disco classics, 80s and music from 2007. Alternatively, you can create your own playlists and share them with your friends. You can set a playlist you create to private, which is ideal for those guilty pleasure playlists.

Spotify Family is a great way for the whole family to enjoy the benefits of Spotify Premium. It is available for you and up to five family members at the price of £14.99, so the more family members that use it, the more money you will save. When you upgrade to Spotify Family, existing accounts keep their playlists so you don’t have to start over again. You will get a full Premium account with all the benefits with one bill to split between you. Members of the family must all live at the same address.
